Scandium(III) chloride hexahydrate Usage And Synthesis |
Uses | Scandium(III) chloride hexahydrate is applied in optical coating, catalyst, electronic ceramics and laser industry, are also excellent precursors for production of ultra high purity compounds, catalysts, and nanoscale materials. The main application of Scandium by weight is in Scandium-Aluminium alloys for minor aerospace industry components. Dentists use Erbium, Chromium: Yttrium-Scandium-Gallium Garnet (Er,Cr:YSGG) lasers for cavity preparation and in endodontics. |
Chemical Properties | white crystal(s) [STR93] |
Uses | Scandium(III) chloride hexahydrate, which is freely soluble in water is used as a source for producing metallic scandium by electrolysis. It finds use in halide lamps, optical fibers, electronic ceramics and lasers. |
